About the Artist
Orion Kim is Thirteen years old and in the eighth grade. He is from a very musical family. His parents are world class professional musicians who have nurtured and encouraged their son’s development. Orion studies with the nationally distinguished artist/teacher, Dr. Joseph Zins, of Crocus Hill Studios in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Enrolled in the Studio’s high intensity Performance Studies for the Gifted and Talented Pre-College Student, he is a member of the Premier Class. His younger sister is also a member of the Premier Class as a student of Dr. Jo Anne Link.
Most recently, Orion took top honors at the Dakota Valley Symphony Concerto/Aria Competition. Other appearances include performances with the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra (first place winner of the 2018 Minneapolis Music Teachers Forum Mozart concerto Competition), guest artist with the University of Minnesota Chamber Orchestra (as part of the 2018 Minnesota International Piano Camp) and third prize winner in the Saint Paul Piano Teachers Concerto Competition.
Orion’s gifts are enormous. He plays with great sensitivity and color. He is extremely charismatic on stage and exudes a vibrant artistry in his early teens. His rapid development over the past four years has been stunning. We have the highest expectation that Orion will develop into a major artist.
In addition to his piano studies, Orion's other great passion is playing soccer competitively for the Saint Paul Blackhawks Club. He is a terrific soccer player, loves his team, and is much revered by his fellow teammates.
