This past Saturday, Collin Jinks was named the Winner of the West-Central Division of the National Young Artist Competition of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)!! Representing the State of Minnesota, Collin performed a twenty-five minute solo program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was one of eight pianists to perform in the West-Central Division, representing eight states. As winner of this Division, Collin will proceed to the National Finals held in Baltimore in March. He is one of just seven national finalists. Collin is only the second one of our studio to make it to the National Finals of MTNA - it is that difficult! Our only other student to have made it to the finals was Nita Qiu in 2015.
Speaking of Nita, she has been invited as one of just sixty pianists - worldwide - to the Disklavier/Video Recordings - Preliminary Round of the International e-Piano Junior Competition 2017!! Nita will travel to Chicago next month to record a twenty minute solo program. It is one of just eight global locations. From this pool of sixty, just twenty-four will be selected to compete in the e-Piano Junior Competition in July, here in Minnesota.
In other news, Saejin Yoo performed this morning for the Saint Paul Piano Teachers Association (SPPTA). She received this special invitation as a result of her selection for the Finals of SPPTA's notable Concerto Competition held last December.
Yours in Music!!
