As you may recall, last January Beatrice (Bea) Grant was named a 2019 Featured Round Artist of Minnesota Public Radio's (MPR's)
Minnesota Varsity! As a result, Bea was given the wonderful and rare opportunity of making a professional recording at the famous Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser Studio, MPR's St. Paul Headquarters. We chose Franz Liszt's brilliant and scintillating Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12. Bea's performance was aired twice on KSJN as well as posted on line, along with the other seven Featured Artists. Bea's performance was chosen by vote as the listeners' favorite performance, thus bypassing the judges and given a coveted spot on the Showcase Concert!
Next, Bea will perform her Liszt Rhapsody in the Showcase Concert along with the other four Showcase Artists and the two Showcase Composers who will have their works premiered. The concert will take place at beautiful Ted Mann Concert Hall on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. The date is Saturday, May 11th, at 3:00 pm. The concert will be broadcast live on Classical Minnesota Public Radio and streaming on the web. But we really hope to see everyone there in the audience at Ted Mann! Admission is free and open to the public, but one will still need a ticket. Ticket reservations can be made online, and reservations will be available beginning April 8th.
We greatly appreciate all those who voted for Bea! She is so deserving of this honor and performance opportunity! Bea joins our growing list of young artists who have made it to the Showcase Concert. Those include Michael Tang, Collin Jinks, and Nita Qiu.
See you there!
