On December 3rd of the 2022-2023 season Will Gannon (17) received 2nd Place in the annual St. Paul Piano Teachers Concerto Competition (SPPTA). It is a significant and important regional event in which the winner is given the opportunity of performing with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra. He performed the first movement of the stupendous Prokofiev Concerto No. 2 in G minor with great sweep, command, and passion.
Our Deling Chen, 15, and Kate Hibbs, 9, were also named finalists. As there were 6 finalists, our studio represented half of the field of young artists presented in the finals. Deling performed a very concentrated and committed first movement of Beethoven's Concerto No. 1 in C Major. Kate gave a ravishingly expressive performance of the 1st movement of Mozart's beloved Concerto in A Major, K. 488.
