Will Gannon
About the Artist
Will Gannon, eighteen, recently completed high school after attending the University of Minnesota on full scholarship under the State of Minnesota’s Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program. Will studies with Dr. Joseph Zins of Crocus Hill Studios in St. Paul, Minnesota. In August 2023, Will joins the studio of Professor Kevin Kenner at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.
Will’s many accomplishments include receiving the top honor in the 2022 PianoTexas International Festival and Academy Concerto Competition, as well as numerous awards and honors in state and regional piano competitions including the MTNA piano competition, the Schubert Club and Thursday Musical Scholarship Competitions, and the YPSCA, La Crosse, and St. Paul Piano Teachers Association concerto competitions. Will is a fellow of the acclaimed program “From the Top,” appearing on the program’s national broadcast in April, 2023, and has been selected to study with and perform in master classes with such luminaries as Stanislav Ioudenitch, Dang Thai Son, Víkingur Ólafsson, Tamás Ungár, Hung-Kuan Chen, Jerome Lowenthal, Boris Slutsky, and Asaf Zohar. Will’s orchestral performances have included appearances with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, and, as a high school freshman, a performance in front of more than 3,000 music teachers as a featured soloist at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Midwinter Clinic.
In addition to his classical piano studies, Will is an accomplished jazz pianist, studying for many years with acclaimed pianist and composer Mary Louise Knutson. Will is also an avid chamber musician and collaborative pianist, performing regularly with soloists and small ensembles.
